Learning and Young People

Ali has worked with museums, schools and young people in a number of ways:

  • UK Co-ordinator Young Archaeologists’ Club, inspiring young people to get involved with archaeology. Local clubs, a magazine, archaeological holidays and national events makes archaeology exciting and stimulating! http://www.yac-uk.org/
  • MLA Creative Minds Project Office supporting museums in Yorkshire in developing and delivering STEM related programmes and activities. http://www.mylearning.org/museums/creative-minds/
  • Programme Manager for The British Library Campaign! Make an Impact, inspiring young people through historical campaigns and museum collections. Young people changed their own world having learned from successful historical campaigns such as the abolition of the slave trade, women’s suffrage, public health and the Chartists. http://www.bl.uk/campaign
  • Facilitator for Hull’s City of Culture Future Ferens’ Symposium, supporting the Ferens’ Art Gallery young people’s group to create a Symposium linked to the SKIN exhibition. The result was an engaging event with lively debate. For many participants it was their first public speaking event. The Ferens’ Art Gallery is shortlisted for the 2018 Museum of the Year Award. https://futureferens.wordpress.com/2017/09/15/skin-symposium/
